The Public Service Commission to host the Citizens’ Forum in partnership with Mogalakwena Local Municipality and Provincial Government Departments to address issues affecting service delivery in Mapela

In the spirit of improving service delivery to address the needs of citizens and to improve the trust between citizens and government, the Public Service Commission (PSC) in partnership with Mogalakwena Local Municipality in the Limpopo Province and the Limpopo Provincial Government will host the Citizens Forum on Friday, 03 March 2023 at Mapela Stadium. 
 
The Citizens’ Forum methodology enables the PSC to work closely with a particular section of citizens and relevant key stakeholders to define the service delivery needs and collectively find solutions. The Citizens Forum aims to amongst others, evaluate service delivery in the area; assess the delivery of specific service delivery programmes; improve participation in the planning and implementation of service delivery programmes; and make recommendations on how to improve service delivery.
 
The PSC has identified the communities in the villages of Mapela Cluster in Mogalakwena Local Municipality, under the Waterberg District Municipality to be invited to participate in the   Citizens’ Forum.
 
The PSC is of the view that the Citizens’ Forum will enable the community members to engage with various institutions including government on issues affecting service delivery in respect of the following, but not limited to:
 

*Anglo Platinum Mine’s contribution in the development of communities;

*Water shortages and poor sanitation;

*Lack of access to medical care services;

*Unemployment

*Skills Development;

*Poor roads infrastructure, and

*Poor services from the local SAPS Office.

Anglo Platinum Mine and Government Departments will be provided with an opportunity to outline their plans for addressing the service delivery challenges raised by communities, showcase their services and provide assistance to the communities on-site.

As such, Anglo Platinum, all departments and institutions have been invited to bring the required services and relevant information to the community on the day of the Citizens’ Forum.

An invitation has been extended to the Premier of Limpopo Province, the Members of Executive Council, Anglo Platinum Mine, Heads of Departments and Institutions Supporting Democracy. The PSC has also invited the Speaker and relevant Portfolio Committees in the Limpopo Provincial Legislature, to join the meeting as part of their oversight mandate.
The members of the media are invited to the Citizens’ Forum which will be held as follows:
