SAPS LIMPOPO HOSTS NATIONAL CAREER EXPO IN SUPPORT OF NATIONAL POLICE DAY AND EXCELLENCE AWARDS

SESHEGO- The South African Police Service in Limpopo today on Wednesday, 25 January 2023 hosted the National Career Expo at Seshego Stadium outside Polokwane as part of build-up programmes towards National Police Day scheduled to take place in the city on Friday ( 27 January) and the National Excellence awards on Saturday (28 January).The Deputy Minister of Police Mr Cassel Mathale ( MP) joined by the SAPS top management led by the National Commissioner of Police General Fannie Masemola as well as several stakeholders honoured the initiative.

In his speech, the Deputy Minister encouraged learners to join the Police Service as it offers a variety of opportunities; that they must refrain from the mindset that the organisation is for the non-educated people who have lost hope. The Deputy Minister explained that the organisation is full of professional, skilled, well equipped and educated members who are loyal to the organisation and serving the people of South Africa.

The learners were ecstatic to experience the various demonstrations and simulations by members of South African Police Service in various components such as K9 Unit, Air Wing, Tactical Response Team( TRT), Highway Patrol team and Bomb squad; before they went to the stalls side by side with the entourage where various experts from the SAPS divisions and units showcased careers and expertise that exists within the organisation at large.The event is aimed at sharing educational platform on the many career choices within the SAPS.The learners further interacted with various experts and with the hope to grasp a thing or two about their choice of careers.

The host, Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe expressed her gratitude towards the Gift of Life Foundation for stepping up to the call when she personally reached out to them and they provided lunchboxes for all the learners who made to the event.

The SAPS Golf Day will follow tomorrow on Thursday ( January 26) and all proceeds will go to the children of members who died in line of duty, followed the National Police Day Celebrations
on Friday ( January 27) where members from all nine provinces will gather to acknowledge the outstanding contribution and sacrifices the men and women in blue in their quest to ensure a safe and secure South Africa

The activities will conclude with the National Excellence awards at the Ranch Hotel which aims to celebrate and honour both operational and administrative employees including reservists who have gone beyond the call of duty to serve and protect South Africa.
