TWO VEHICLE TESTING STATION OFFICIALS APPEAR IN COURT FOR FRAUD

LIMPOPO – Two Vehicle Testing Station Officials, Abel Chilenge (35) and Millicent Raphotle (37) appeared in the Polokwane Specialised Commercial Crimes Court today, 18 January 2023 for alleged fraud.

In May 2021, the two accused, Chilenge (Vehicle Examiner) and Raphotle (Administration Clerk) at a privately-owned Vehicle Testing Station named Quick Test allegedly processed and issued a roadworthy certificate using the particulars of someone without his knowledge.

The matter was referred to the Hawks’ Serious Commercial Crime Investigation for further probe. During the investigation, it was discovered that the vehicle was never brought to the testing station for mandatory examination.

Following an intensive investigation, Chilenge and Raphotle were on 5 January 2023 summoned to appear in court. Their matter was postponed to 2 February 2023.
