DISTRICT COURT PROSECUTOR APPEARS IN COURT FOR RAPE
An Upington District Court Prosecutor, attached to the Upington Cluster in the Northern Cape, has appeared in the Upington District Court, where he is facing two counts of rape, one charge of sexual assault, Contravention of 17(1)(a) of the Domestic Violence Act of 1998 (Protection Order), as well as a charge of compelling or causing a child to witness sexual offences.
It is alleged that on 13 November 2022, in the suburb of Paballelo, near the town of Upington, the prosecutor assaulted, raped, and sexually assaulted his 29-year-old partner, who is a member of the South African Police Service in front of their two-year-old daughter.
The matter has been adjourned to 22 November 2022, for bail information as well as a formal bail application. The accused is remanded in custody until his next court appearance. Investigations led by SAPS’s Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit are continuing in this matter.
