LEDWABA REPLACED THE RETIRED MOATSHE NGOEPE WHO LEFT THE POLICE SERVICE IN MARCH THIS YEAR

POLOKWANE: Lieutenant Colonel Malesela Jonathan Ledwaba was today conferred with the new rank of a Colonel and appointed as the Provincial Commander of the Media Relations of the South African Police Service in Limpopo Province.

Confering the rank on Colonel Ledwaba and thirteen (13) other Colonels appointed in other environments, the Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe said these new appointments carry with them huge responsibilities which demand hard work.

Colonel Ledwaba possesses vast experience in the environment of Media Liaison which spans for 26 years. During the period when policing in the Province was still divided into four areas which were led by the Area Commissioners , Colonel Ledwaba was the Area Head of Communication and Liaison Services in the then Waterburg Area.

Before his appointment in the then Waterburg Area, Colonel Ledwaba worked in different environments such as Community Service Centre , Human Resource Management as well as Visible Policing .From SAPS basic training in college he was detailed to Namakgale SAPS in the Community Service Centre and from Namakgale he was then transferred to Lebowakgomo , VISPOL Environment and later to Lebowakgomo Head Quarters in the HRM environment. He was later transferred to Seshego, then District Head Office, in the Communications and Liaison Services .

In 2002 he was appointed the Area Head of Communications and Liaison Services in Waterberg Area Offices and in 2012 he was transferred to Provincial Head Office in the Communications and dealing with Events Management and Protocol Services.

Colonel Ledwaba has a wealth of experience aquired in the SAPS and hasn’t shied sway from self skilling. Having acquired a Degree in Police Management from UNISA and he also empowered himself with knowledge and certificates in the Media as well as Events Management spaces, Colonel Ledwaba went on to demonstrate his passion for what he does. His work ethics are clearly manifested by his willingness to always going extra mile to get the work done.

This father of two is results driven and likes to serve the community, something which brings pleasure and satisfaction to him.

Colonel Ledwaba had the first hand experience when CPF’s were introduced and officially launched. When he was the Area Head in Waterberg he carried a huge responsibility in dealing perceptions and conceptions amid the amongst the serious problem of a seriel rapist and murderer who tormented the community in Phahameng for almost six years before being arrested, convicted and subsequently sentenced to multiple life sentences.

He did the same thing during Vuwani violence that led to to destruction of properties during 2015.

Colonel Ledwaba takes over from the retired Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe, who left the Police Service in March this year.
