The underutilised Moutse traffic station must provide services

The DA in Limpopo will write to the MEC for Transport and Community Safety, Florence Radzilani, to request reasons why the Moutse traffic station is not providing comprehensive services to residents in the area.

When the state-of-the-art traffic station opened in 2009 it was meant to provide all the driving, traffic and licensing services.

However, learners licenses and drivers’ license services have never been provided and people from Moutse travel Groblersdal and Marble Hall for licensing services.

The station provides only law enforcement and is a registering authority. During a recent oversight with the transport committee, no clients were seen.( See photo here)

The traffic station has 36 traffic officers, 3 cashiers, and 4 administrative staff. Amongst the traffic officers there are examiners who initially were earmarked to conduct driving tests.

We call on the Department to initiate engagements with RTMC to provide a learner’s license and drivers’ licences system to keep the station operational, cost effective and to relieve pressure on other traffic stations.
