The Youth Employment Service (YES) is a national initiative led by the South African Presidency to reduce youth unemployment. Eskom participates by offering structured 12-month internships that provide real workplace experience—especially valuable if you’ve never had permanent employment.

What You’ll Do
During the internship, you’ll gain hands-on experience in Eskom’s distribution division:
- Assist with customer service and handle enquiries
- Support admin and operational tasks
- Learn internal systems, policies, and procedures
- Get exposure to the electricity distribution environment
This is a solid entry point into the energy sector, especially if you’re interested in operations or customer-facing roles.
Minimum Requirements
To apply, you must:
- Be a South African citizen
- Be 18–34 years old
- Have Grade 12 (Matric)
- Achieve:
- Mathematics: 50% or
- Maths Literacy: 70%
- Have:
- English: 60% +
- At least one other official SA language
