MODIMOLLE POLICE LAUNCH MANHUNT FOR SUSPECTS COMMITTED ARMED ROBBERY AT CONSTRUCTION SITE IN PHOMOLONG
POLOKWANE: Police in Modimolle under the Waterberg District have launched manhunt for suspects following an armed robbery incident that occurred at a construction site in Phomolong Extension 11.
The incident took place on Saturday, 24 January 2026, at around 21:00, at ‘Baphalaborwa 72’ Construction Site. According to the complainant, who was on duty performing guard duties at the time, three unknown male suspects arrived at the site. One of the suspects was armed with a firearm and pointed it at the complainant.
The suspects allegedly forced the complainant into one of the mobile containers on site, tied his hands and feet, and locked him inside. The complainant was left confined in the container throughout the night until the following morning when a colleague arrived to relieve him. The colleague untied him, and they then sought assistance.
Two trucks were reportedly stolen from the site during the incident, namely a Hino 700 Tipper Truck valued at approximately R1.2 million, and a Hino 700 Water Tank Truck valued at approximately R1.8 million.
