FORMER POLICE CONSTABLE OUT ON BAIL FOR FRAUD AND CORRUPTION

GAUTENG: Former police constable, Neo Adgenton Molatedi (36) who was attached to the Hawks’ Serious Commercial Crime Investigation in Johannesburg has appeared before the Johannesburg Magistrates Court on Wednesday, 11 June 2025 for fraud and corruption.

In April 2024 a case of fraud was reported to the Hawks’ Serious Commercial Crime Investigation (SCCI) in Johannesburg by the Chief Financial Officer of Pan African Mine. The case was then assigned to Constable Molatedi to investigate. It is alleged that Molatedi then sent what seemed as a formal request using the SAPS official letterhead, unlawfully requesting an amount of R6000 from the complainant for accommodation in Klerksdorp in order to finalise the investigation.

The matter was reported to the Hawks’ Serious Corruption Investigation (SCI), and an internal disciplinary case was instituted against the officer which led to his dismissal from the service in October 2024. Investigations continued in the criminal case against the former officer and on Wednesday, 11 June 2025 a warrant of arrest was executed after Molatedi handed himself over to authorities.

Molatedi made his first appearance before the Johannesburg Magistrates Court on 11 June 2025 where he was granted bail of R3000 and the matter is postponed to 23 July 2025.
