LEPHALALE POLICE LAUNCH A SEARCH FOR A 37 YEAR-OLD FEMALE SUSPECT FOR VEHICLE FINANCE FRAUD

LEPHALALE: Lephalale police are requesting public assistance to in tracing a 37 year-old , Cynthia Kgwete whom it is believed her presence will assist in solving a fraud case.

It is alleged that on Monday 02 February, 2026, Nedbank opened a fraud case at Lephalale police station for investigation.

Preliminary investigations revealed that
the suspect allegedly posed as a client and applied for vehicle finance to purchase a Ford Ranger Double Cab. During the application process, the suspect submitted a false documentation and further misrepresented her employment and income details to secure approval from the bank.

The application was approved, and the bakkie was released to the suspect. It was also later discovered that a tracking device fitted to the vehicle was removed shortly after it left the dealership.

No installments were paid to the bank and upon further investigation, the bank discovered it had been defrauded by the 37 year-old and reported the matter to police.

A case of fraud was registered, and investigations revealed that the suspect provided a false working address and residential address in Gauteng Province.

A warrant of arrest was issued and police are appealing to anyone with information about the whereabouts of the suspect as appearing on the photo, to urgently contact the Investigating Officer Sergeant Simon Tjatjie Kekana on 078 472 0505 or crime stop number 08600 10111 or nearest police station or may share information on MySAPSApp.

Police investigations are continuing.
