POLICE SEIZE A HIGH POWERED TOYOTA BAKKIE FULLY LOADED WITH DAGGA VALUED 2.6 MILLION

POLOKWANE: The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has applauded strong partnership and collaboration between police and rural Safety structures following the discovery of an abandoned vehicle loaded with dagga estimated at R2,6 million.

The Waterburg district Police, Waterburg Rural Safety and private Security acted on an intelligence about three vehicles which were transporting dagga along R33 Vaalwater and Modimolle on Saturday 14 February 2026 at around 16:30.

The Police responded to this crucial information about three vehicles, a white Toyota Fortuner and two Toyota hilux bakkie GD6 traveling from Gauteng Province torwads Modimolle N1 northbound.

The operation was activated, and the vehicles matching the description were spotted in Vaalwater, traveling at high speed.

The members attempted to stop them but they speed off. A lookout was activated with the assistance of the private security companies, and Toyota hilux bakkie charcoal was intercepted. Unfortunately, the suspects left the vehicle and ran in the bushes on foot. The vehicle was searched and was found fully loaded in eight bags of dagga with an estimated street value of R2.6 million.

The vehicle was seized for investigation purposes.
