SECURITY OFFICER TO APPEAR IN COURT AFTER ALLEGEDLY FATALLY SHOOTING MAN IN MOKOPANE TOWN
POLOKWANE: A 34-year-old male security officer is expected to appear before the Mokopane Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, 27 January 2026, in connection with the fatal shooting of a man in Mokopane town in the early hours of Monday, 26 January 2026.
It is alleged that the deceased was involved in an argument with the suspect at a local restaurant in Pretorius Street, Mokopane town, at approximately 02:10. During the altercation, the suspect allegedly fired a shot, fatally wounding the victim. The suspect fled the scene on foot, and the victim was declared dead at the scene by emergency medical services.
The suspect was swiftly arrested following police investigations. The firearm allegedly used in the commission of the crime was recovered.
A case of murder has been opened, and police investigations are continuing.
