SUSPECT SWIFTLY TRACED IN GAUTENG AFTER FATALLY SHOOTING MAN IN MMADIGA VILLAGE -FIREARM RECOVERED
POLOKWANE: The Police in Sebayeng under Capricorn District have arrested a 36-year-old male suspect after he allegedly shot and killed a 42-year-old man from Mmadiga Village, Ga-Dikgale. The suspect was traced to Gauteng Province, where he was swiftly apprehended, and the firearm believed to have been used during the crime was recovered.
The incident occurred on Sunday, 02 November 2025 at about 00:30. Police were alerted after the victim was taken to Mankweng Hospital with gunshot wounds. Upon arrival, officers found that the victim had unfortunately succumbed to his injuries while receiving medical treatment.
According to preliminary investigations, the victim had been walking with a friend in Mmadiga Village when a vehicle approached and slowed down near them. The occupants of the vehicle allegedly hurled insults at the pair. When the victims did not respond, the passenger reportedly fired several shots at the deceased before the vehicle sped off.
Spent cartridges were recovered at the scene as part of the investigation.
A case of murder was immediately opened, and a team of investigators worked tirelessly to identify and locate the suspect. The breakthrough came when the suspect was traced to Gauteng, on Friday where he was arrested. The firearm believed to be the murder weapon was seized during the operation.
The arrested suspect will appear before the Mankweng Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 08 December 2025, facing a charge of murder.
The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, commended the swift action of the investigative team and reaffirmed the SAPS’s commitment to removing dangerous criminals and illegal firearms from communities.
