LIMPOPO MUSICIAN APPEARS IN COURT FOR ATTEMPTED MURDER — BAIL POSTPONED

Polokwane, Limpopo – Popular Limpopo musician Lehlogonolo Katlego Chauke (30), known by his stage name Shebeshxt, appeared briefly in the Polokwane Magistrates’ Court on charges of attempted murder, malicious damage to property, and possession of an unlicensed firearm.

The charges stem from an incident that occurred on 19 October 2025, when the complainant and a friend were driving along Witklip Street in Ladanna, Polokwane. It is alleged that upon seeing the accused, they greeted him as fans. The accused allegedly responded by saying, “Kgane aletlale ka nna?” before firing a shot in their direction. The bullet struck the complainant in the jaw and shattered the window of a Nissan vehicle belonging to the witness. The witness immediately transported the injured complainant to Polokwane Provincial Hospital for urgent medical treatment. A case was subsequently registered, and following an intensive investigation, the accused was arrested on 12 November 2025.

Chauke is also facing other unrelated pending charges, including two counts of attempted murder, assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, robbery with aggravating circumstances, and malicious injury to property. That trial is scheduled to proceed from 17 to 19 February 2026 in the Lebowakgomo Regional Court. He is currently out on R5 000 bail in that matter. In the present Polokwane case, the matter has been postponed to 25 November 2025 for a formal bail application. The accused remains in custody.
