Two Men Arrested in Pretoria for Possession of Explosives

The South African Police Service (SAPS) has confirmed the arrest of two men, aged 78 and 53, for being in illegal possession of explosives. The arrest was made after police received a tip-off about a Ford Fiesta vehicle in Pretoria, which led to the discovery of 26 blasting cartridges and 15 capped fuse connectors.

The suspects, believed to be Zimbabwean opposition leader Job Sikhala and an elderly man, were stopped by police on the N14 highway towards Johannesburg. Sikhala’s associates claim the explosives were planted in the vehicle as part of a setup.

The pair will appear before the Pretoria Magistrate Court on Monday, November 10, 2025, facing charges of illegal possession of explosives
