A Special Investigating Unit (SIU) report has found that Lesiba Malotana, the suspended Head of the Gauteng Health Department, benefitted to the tune of R1.6 million in questionable ATM cash deposits. These deposits are suspected to be linked to the broader R1.8 billion looting scandal at Tembisa Hospital.
The investigation uncovered multiple cash deposits totaling R1.6 million into six undisclosed bank accounts held by Malotana over a period of three years. Some of these accounts and deposits were not declared, raising serious concerns about the source and purpose of the funds.
