POLICE INVESTIGATE CULPABLE HOMICIDE AFTER FIVE-YEAR-OLD GIRL KNOCKED DOWN BY VEHICLE IN NAMAKGALE
POLOKWANE: Police in Namakgale, under Mopani District, are investigating a case of culpable homicide following a fatal accident that claimed the life of a five-year-old girl from Nyakelane village on Sunday, 07 September 2025.
The incident occurred at about 16:30 along Tshelang Gape road, leading to Makhushane Dairy. Police were called to the scene and, upon arrival, found the young child lying motionless near the road. Paramedics certified her dead at the scene.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the victim was knocked down by a grey Hyundai Getz, which was not found at the scene when police arrived. Further information indicates that the child was attempting to cross the road when the accident occurred.
Community members who witnessed the incident assisted police with information, and the driver later reported the matter at the police station. A case of culpable homicide has since been opened and investigations are continuing.
