MOKOPANE REGIONAL COURT SENTENCE TWO ACCUSED MEN TO DIRECT LIFE IMPRISONMENT FOR BRUTAL MURDER

POLOKWANE The Mokopane Regional Court has on Wednesday 03 September 2025 sentenced, two accused men, aged 23 and 35 to direct life imprisonment for brutal murder of 21-year-old victim man in Ga-Mogotlane village.

The court noted that, on Saturday, 29 October 2023, the accused entered at the deceased homestead and found him with his girlfriend, who started to assault him with steel objects and chains. The deceased man ran for his safety to another room, but they followed him and continued to assault him. They undressed him, dragged him to outside of the house, and left him badly injured.

The victim was taken to the hospital for medical purposes, where he later succumbed to his injuries the following day.

The police were notified about the murder incident. The successful preliminary investigation led to the arrest of the alleged suspects the following day.

During the court proceedings, the police opposed bail application by the suspect until on Wednesday, 03 September 2025.

The court found them guilty of murder and sentenced follows:
Accused No1, Vincent Lesiba Molatudi 35, sentenced to life, direct imprisonment for murder
Accused no. 2 Karabo Johannes Mabalela 23, sentenced to life direct imprisonment for murder and additional three years for assault GBH.

The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has applauded the meticulous work carried out by the investigating officer as well as all the roleplayers who ensured the successful conviction and sentencing of securing life imprisonment sentence
