POLICE ARREST SUSPECT IN SHAWELA VILLAGE MURDER CASE WITHIN 24 HOURS
POLOKWANE – The police in Limpopo have arrested a 34-year-old suspect who allegedly stabbed and killed his girlfriend in Shawela Village, Giyani policing precinct, on Sunday, 17 August 2025.
The suspect was traced and apprehended on Monday, 18 August 2025, at about 08:00, while hiding in Nsavulani village, another section of Shawela Village. This swift arrest follows the directive by the Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, who ordered that every available resources be mobilised to ensure the swift apprehension of the suspect.
Lieutenant General Hadebe has commended the investigating team for their rapid response and also expressed appreciation to community members who co-operated with the police by providing positive information that led to the suspect’s capture.
“This case is a clear demonstration that when police and the community work together, justice is served. I want to applaud all those who came forward with positive information that led to the imminent arrest of this ruthless suspect ,” said Lieutenant General Hadebe.
The suspect will appear before the Giyani Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, 20th August 2025, facing a charge of murder.
