MOTHER IN COURT FOR MURDER OF THREE-MONTH-OLD INFANT
LIMPOPO, SOUTH AFRICA – A 20-year-old woman, Andisani Dephney Nthabalala, from Mailaskop Village, has briefly appeared in the Tshitale Magistrates’ Court facing a charge of murder.
It is alleged that on 01 August 2025, the accused killed her three-month-old infant by pressing her leg against the child’s neck until the baby succumbed to the injuries. Witnesses attempted to rush the infant to the nearest clinic, but she was certified dead on arrival.
The case has been postponed to 12 August 2025 to allow the accused to secure legal representation. She will remain in custody until her next court appearance.
The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) condemns all acts of violence against children and will continue to act firmly to ensure justice for the most vulnerable members of society.
