HAWKS AND NPA SECURED FORFEITURE ORDERS OF PROPERTIES VALUED AT OVER R7.3 MILLION

LIMPOPO: Polokwane based Hawks’ Assets Forfeiture Investigation (AFI) and the Assets Forfeiture Unit (AFU) of the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) successfully secured forfeiture orders of properties valued at R7.3 million.

Orders were granted by the Limpopo Division High Court sitting in Polokwane on 24 June 2025. Affected properties include 2 farms, vehicles, trailers, trucks, and other items that were attached to such farms.

On 19 July 2024, Hawks members arrested four accused persons in the Loskop potion farm outside Groblersdal for manufacturing drugs. Police seized one motor vehicle (Isuzu) as the instrumentality of the offense.

On 16 June 2020, the police arrested two accused for manufacturing drugs inside the farm at Marble Hall.

On 12 February 2021, the police arrested the accused Learnmore Chabikwa for possession of illicit cigarettes. During the arrest, his Ford Ranger bakkie was seized.

On 25 February 2025, the police attached to Maake SAPS arrested the accused Karakadzai Diwayo for money laundering. A cash amount of R200 000.00 was found in his possession and seized.

Both cases were referred to Hawks AFI for investigations. Upon finalisation of the investigation, the AFI referred the case to AFU. Subsequent to that, the court granted forfeiture orders that cash, farms, vehicles, and other items which were used in the commission of crime or as the proceeds to be forfeited to the state.
