FIVE MALE SUSPECTS NABBED FOR POSSESSION OF STOLEN PROPERTY INCLUDING CONTRAVENTION OF IMMIGRATION ACT

POLOKWANE: A joint intelligence driven operation led to apprehension of five male suspects aged between 30 and 43 for possession of suspected stolen property and Contravention of Immigration Act at Tuinplaas policing area,Waterberg District.

On Wednesday 11 June 2025 at about 04:30, police received a complaint about theft from a motor vehicle at Naboomspruit Truck stop where four (4) truck tyres were allegedly stolen from a truck by unknown suspects.

Police together with the Waterberg District Flying Squad, District Detectives, Modimolle police, Spoorvat Security, Rapid intervention Unit (RIU), Ratel Security, Nylstroom Swat Security including PRSS Mookgophong Security assembled and commenced with an operation of manhunt of the unknown suspects.

While busy with the operation, the teams spotted a suspicious white Toyota Hilux bakkie with a Gauteng registration number driving along the R33 public road at the Crecy T-junction under Tuinplaas precinct. The bakkie with five male occupants was stopped and searched.

During the search, police found four (4) truck tyres inside the canopy of the bakkie and the five male suspects were asked about their origin but failed to provide a satisfactory response. They were immediately placed under an arrest for possession of suspected stolen property valued at R36000,00.

Furthermore, police also discovered that three male suspects were allegedly illegal immigrants in the country and a charge of Contravention of Immigration Act was added during the arrest.

The suspects are expected to appear before the Modimolle Magistrate court on Thursday 12 June 2025 facing a charge of possession of suspected stolen property and Contravention of Immigration Act.

Police investigations are continuing.
