A TRAFFIC POLICE EXAMINER APPEARED IN COURT FOR ALLEGED FRAUD AND CORRUPTION
LIMPOPO: A Traffic Police Examiner, Petrus Maritsane Santi, (60) appeared before Modimolle Magistrate’s Court for alleged fraud and corruption on 10 June 2025.
This follows his arrest by the Polokwane based Hawks Serious Corruption Investigation and Road Traffic Management Cooperation (RTMC) on 09 June 2025 during operation Combination.
It alleges that in 2021, the accused was working as a Traffic Police Examiner in Modimolle Testing Station.
He allegedly assisted the applicant to obtain the learners’ and driver’s lisences without following proper procedures in return for gratification ranging from R6000 to R12000.
The information was brought to the attention of the Hawks and the RTMC by the whistleblowers.
The investigation was launched. After completion of the investigations, the file was handed to the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) in Polokwane for decision. As a result, a warrant of arrest was authorised against Mr Santi. He was traced and arrested while on duty at Modimolle Testing Station in Waterburg District.
He was taken to court where he was granted a bail of R10 000-00. The case was postponed to 10 September 2025 for further police investigations.
The Provincial Head of the Hawks in Limpopo Province Major General (Adv) Gopz Govender has praised the excellent work done by the Hawks, the RTMC, and the NPA. He further acknowledged and thanked the community members for taking actions to erudite fraud and corruption by reporting them to the relevant authorities.
