TWO SUSPECTS NABBED IN CONNECTION WITH RAPE AND ROBBERY OF TVET COLLEGE STUDENTS IN MOPANI DISTRICT APPEAR IN KGAPANE MAGISTRATE’S COURT

POLOKWANE: Two male suspects, Ntsako Mathebula (18) and Tiza Mamatlepa (24), who were arrested in connection with the rape and robbery of female victims at one of the TVET’s student campus in Phaphadi Village under the Bolobedu policing area in February, made a brief appearance at the Kgapane Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, 25th March 2025. They are scheduled to reappear on the 1st April 2025 for another bail application.

Mathebula is facing four counts of rape and house robbery, while Mamatlepa is charged with the possession of suspected stolen property (the victim’s cellphone).

The incident occurred on Saturday, 22 February 2025, at approximately 23:00, when an unknown male intruder entered the residential area, held eight female students at gunpoint, and raped four of them.

The suspect also robbed all eight victims of their valuables, including cellphones, before fleeing the scene on foot.

The two suspects were arrested on the 11th March 2025 during separate operations, where police recovered some items belonging to the victims.

Police investigations are ongoing.
