TWO FOREIGN NATIONALS ARRESTED WITH DAGGA WORTH OVER R79000,00 NEAR BEITBRIDGE PORT OF ENTRY

POLOKWANE – In a significant breakthrough in the fight against drug trafficking, the police in Limpopo have arrested two foreign male nationals and seized dagga worth approximately R79000,00 during a tactical operation conducted in the early hours of Friday, 07 March 2025, along the N1 road near MOJ Petroleum near Beitbridge Port of Entry in Musina.

At approximately 03h20, police stopped and searched two sedan vehicles traveling in the area, leading to the following discoveries:

The first vehicle, a white sedan with Gauteng registration, was driven by a 45-year-old foreign national. A search of the vehicle uncovered eleven (11) bags of dagga weighing 157.8 kg, with an estimated street value of R66,276. The suspect was immediately arrested.

The second vehicle, a grey Ford Focus sedan with Limpopo registration, was driven by a 47-year-old foreign national. Upon searching the vehicle, police found fourteen (14) bags of dagga and four suitcases filled with dagga, weighing a total of 187.8 kg, with an estimated value of R794 394-00.

The suspect was also arrested and charged with dealing and possession of dagga. As part of the investigation, both vehicles were confiscated for further examination.

Both suspects are expected to appear before the Musina Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 10 March 2025, facing charges of dealing and possession of dagga.

Limpopo Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe says “We regard this seizure of dagga as a breakthrough as these drugs should have landed in wrong hands and that men and women in blue are committed in combatting drug related crimes accross the province”.
