TWO ACCUSED IN CONNECTION WITH THE HEIST ABANDONED BAIL
Matidza Andani (28) and Mudau Rembuluwani Zachariah (29), of Makwarela EXT 3, have appeared before Thohoyandou Magistrates’ Court, in connection with the cash-in-transit heists at Venda Plaza, Phangami Mall, and Shayandima complex. The two were allegedly involved in the robberies of Fidelity vehicles, where R4,2 million was stolen and two security officers were shot.
They are facing three counts of robbery with aggravating circumstances, two counts of attempted murder, and unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition. During the arrests on 15 June 2023, Rembuluwani Zachariah Mudau was found in possession of a 9mm pistol and 13 live rounds of ammunition. Police are still looking for other suspects. The state was ready to proceed with the matter, and the suspects abandoned their bail application. The matter is adjourned to 18 August 2023, for investigations and the accused persons will remain in custody.
