WINTERVELD MAN SENTENCED FOR ATTEMPTED CASH-IN-TRANSIT HEIST
 
GAUTENG – The Soshanguve Regional Court convicted and sentenced 40-year-old Sandile Enock Molete on 22 June 2023 to five years direct imprisonment for attempted cash-in-transit robbery.

On 4 February 2020, Molete and his accomplices entered a clothing shop at a mall in Soshanguve and held the employees at gunpoint whilst instructing the security guards who were collecting cash to hand it over to them. During the ordeal, police officers entered the shop and arrested Molete whilst other suspects fled on foot.

The Germiston based Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime Investigation team were alerted to the incident and handled the matter.
Molete was arrested, charged and taken to court where he was granted bail. He absconded until a warrant for his arrest was issued.

He was rearrested by the Hawks on 9 June 2023 then the court convicted and sentenced him on Thursday, 22 June 2023.
