SIX SUSPECTS NABBED SOON AFTER ROBBING A TAILOR SHOP OWNER
POLOKWANE- The Police at Masemola in the Sekhukhune District have arrested six (06) suspects yesterday, Friday 21 October 2022, soon after they allegedly committed a robbery at the local Tailor Shop next to a filling station at Maroge village.
The suspects arrived at the scene at about 15h00, driving in a Chevrolet Aveo sedan. Three women got out of the vehicle and proceeded to a tailor shop under the pretext that they wanted to buy some clothes.The suspects then robbed the female owner of her cellphone, ran to their vehicle and fled the scene.
The victim saw a patrol van at the filling station and alerted the police officers who swiftly acted and followed the tracks of these criminals while calling for backup.The vehicle was spotted parked on the side of the road and the members tactically approached it. The suspects were arrested and six cellphones, including the one that was robbed were confiscated.The Chevrolet sedan is suspected to have been used in the commission of similar crimes.
Preliminary investigation indicated that the suspects are from Kwazulu Natal and may be linked to a series of crimes in Limpopo and other provinces. Further investigation will be conducted to determine the origin of the other recovered cellphones.
The Provincial Commissioner has applauded the speedy reaction of the police officers in apprehending the suspects.”The arrrest of these suspects should send a clear message to those contemplating committing crimes, that the Police, working with communities, are determined to sqeeze the spaces for criminals,” said Lieutenant General Hadebe.
The six suspects aged between 19 and 35 will appear before the Nebo Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 24 October 2022 facing charges of robbery and possession of suspected stolen properties.
