RADIO PRESENTER TO APPEAR BEFORE MOUTSE MAGISTRATE’S COURT ON ALLEGATIONS OF RAPE
POLOKWANE: A 42-year-old man is expected to appear before the Moutse Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, 08 January 2026, for a bail application on a charge of rape.
The incident allegedly occurred on Friday, 26 December 2025, at about 10:45 at an RDP house in Walkaal. The victim, a 39-year-old woman who is a presenter at a local radio station, reported that she was allegedly raped by her colleague and ex-boyfriend, also a radio presenter.
According to the complainant, after knocking off duty, she returned to the radio station to collect some of her belongings that she initially left. The suspect allegedly followed her and later offered to assist in carrying the belongings to her place of residence. Upon arrival, the suspect allegedly raped her.
The suspect was subsequently arrested on the 30th December 2025 and appeared before court on the same day. He was remanded in custody until Thursday, 08 January 2026.
“Violence against women and children will never be tolerated. Anyone found committing such inhumane acts will be harshly dealt with, irrespective of social standing,” said Acting Provincial Commissioner, Major General Jan Scheepers.
The Police investigations are ongoing.
