TWO SUSPECTS ARRESTED FOR POSSESSION OF STOLEN COPPER CABLES DURING INTELLIGENCE-DRIVEN OPERATION IN ELANDSKRAAL
POLOKWANE: The Police arrested two male suspects in Elandskraal, under the Sekhukhune District, following an intelligence-driven operation conducted on Wednesday, 29 October 2025, at Tsantsabela village.
The operation was executed by a joint team comprising the Sekhukhune District Tracking and Investigation Team and Elandskraal Detectives, following information received from a reliable source about suspects in possession of suspected stolen copper cables in the area.
The team swiftly followed up on the information and proceeded to an identified address in Tsantsabela, where the suspects were found in possession of peeled copper cables, a pick, two spades, and kitchen knives believed to have been used during the illegal activity.
The suspects, aged 21 and 19, preliminary investigations, links them with the crime whereby they have allegedly dug up the copper cables from a Dropping Centre. They were immediately arrested and charged with possession of suspected stolen property and tempering with essential infrastructure.
The Acting Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo, Major General Scheepers, has praised the teams for their swift response and coordinated action.
Both suspects will appear before the local Magistrate’s Court soon.
The Police investigation is ongoing.
