SUSPECT TO APPEAR BEFORE THOHOYANDOU MAGISTRATE’S COURT FOR MURDER OF FEMALE STUDENT
POLOKWANE A 20-year-old male suspect facing a charge of murder of a 20 year old University of Venda Student is expected to appear before Thohoyandou Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 01 September 2025.
Reports suggest that
on Friday, 29 August 2025, Thohoyandou VISPOL police in Vhembe District received a complaint of murder at the student campus residence. On their arrival, they found the security officer who led them to the room, where there was a female victim laying in the pool of blood with multiple wounds on her upper body.
The preliminary police’ report revealed that the alleged suspect was with her girlfriend in his room fighting. After a moment, there was a loud noise of someone screaming . Both suspect and the deceased were alleged to be students at University of Venda.
The emergency medical services personnel were summoned and unfortunately, the victim succumbed to her injuries
Further information suggests that the suspect tried to evade arrest by jumping through the window from the third floor, and he sustained some injuries .
The suspect is now at the medical facility receiving treatment under police guard .
