33 PEOPLE IN COURT FOR ALLEGED DRIVER’S LICENSE FRUAD AND CORRUPTION

The case of thirty-three (33) people charged of fraud and corruption relating to the alleged fraudulent issuing if drivers’ licenses, appeared in the Richard’s Bay Magistrates’ Court today. The offences are alleged to have taken place at the Melmoth Driving License Centre in 2016.

Of the 33 Accused persons, 23 previously appeared in July 2024, while 10 made their first court appearance today. Bail was set at various amounts, depending on their submissions to court. Bail conditions are that they attend court and do not interfere with witnesses. Two of the Accused are examiners from the licensing centre, while others are alleged to have fraudulently applied for their drivers’/learners’ license.

Two (Accused 16 and Accused 32) of the 33 Accused were not present in court today and the court made rulings on their respective bail amounts.
