TWO SUSPECTS NABBED FOR CONTRAVENTION OF CUSTOMS AND POSSESSION OF ILLICIT HOOKERS, WORTH OVER R3MILLION AND BRIBERY IN MOGWADI POLICING AREA

POLOKWANE: Following a swift reaction to a tip-off, police arrested two suspects aged 34 and 46 for contravention of customs and possession of illicit hookers worth about R3.8 million at the R521 in the Mogwadi policing area, on Wednesday, 11 September 2024.

Members of Capricorn District Flying Squad tactically approached a white Rigid Man truck and stopped it along the R521 at Mogwadi. This after the information was received that the said truck with two suspects, a driver and passenger was transporting illicit goods.

Upon searching it, Police found 908 boxes containing premium hooker flavours, wrapped with plastic, and one of the boxes was also found opened. The illicit hookers were confiscated at an estimated value of R3.8 million. The suspects failed to provide the necessary documents of the goods. Police immediately placed them under arrest for possession of illicit hookers and contravention of customs. Members of SARS were also summoned to the scene.

During the arrest, one of the suspects tried to bribe the officers, and an additional charge of bribery was added against him. The suspect’s truck with a value of four hundred thousand (R400 000) was also confiscated.

The Provincial Commissioner of Limpopo Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has applauded the members for accurately responding to the information received, which has led to the arrest of the two suspects.

The suspects will appear before Mogwadi Magistrate’s court soon for charges of possession of illicit hookers, contravention of customs, and bribery.
