TWO SUSPECTS ARRESTED FOR MURDER OF HEADMAN SETLAMORAGO THOBEJANE REMANDED IN CUSTODY
POLOKWANE: Two male suspects, Karabo Maphanga (25) and Winter Phasha (40), appeared before the Moroke Periodical Court on Friday, 30 August 2024, in connection with the murder of Headman Setlamorago Thobejane at Magobading village in the Mecklenburg policing area, Sekhukhune District on Wednesday, 07 August 2024.
They were remanded in custody until Monday, 10 September 2024, for a formal bail application. The suspects were arrested on 28 August 2024, at separate locations by members of the Provincial Tracking Team and Murder and Robbery Unit.
On the day of the incident, Headman Setlamorago Thobejane (60) and his daughter were walking to work and school, respectively, when the suspects, driving a maroon Toyota Camry without a registration number, allegedly approached them and fired several shots, fatally wounding the Headman, before fleeing the scene. He was taken to the nearest hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
A case of murder was opened at Mecklenburg police station and transferred to the Provincial Murder and Robbery Unit and Provincial Tracking Team for further investigations.
