SELF PROCLAIMED PROPHET, HIS SON AND BODYGUARD APPEAR IN COURT

Self proclaimed prophet Paseka Motshoeneng (56), aka Mboro, appeared alongside his bodyguard and son, Vincent Baloyi and Revival Motshoeneng respectively, on charges related to the incident that happened at Matsediso Primary School on 05 August 2024. In a video that went viral, the three accused were seen brandishing dangerous weapons before allegedly forcefully removing two learners from the school premises.

They face a string of charges including kidnapping, possession of dangerous weapons and of unlicensed firearms, possession of prohibited firearm, assault by way of threat, pointing of firearms, discharging of a firearm and malicious damage to property.

They were remanded in custody until 16 August 2024, for the state to prepare for the bail hearing and finalise investigations related to that hearing, including amongst others, the profiling of the accused and other information relevant for bail.

The NPA further received three more dockets emanating from the same incident, wherein the Motshoeneng’s are complainants against the maternal family of the children. Mboro laid a complaint of common assault against the uncle and grandmother of the children, alleging that he was assaulted at the school whilst attending to his son’s complaint that he was not allowed to leave the school with his children, following his attempt to collect them from the school. The other docket refers to a complaint laid by Mboro’s son wherein he alleges that he was assaulted by the grandmother of his children when he went to fetch them from the school. The last docket is related to the assault charge laid by the Station Commander of Katlehong North Police, against the uncle of the children, alleging that he was attacked by him at the police station when he was attending to the altercation between the parties involved. The state did not enrol the case wherein Mboro’s son is a complainant, pending further investigations, whilst both the grandmother and uncle will be back in court on 10 September and were each released on R1000 bail.
