SEVEN SUSPECTS NABBED IN DENNILTON FOR POSSESSION OF UNLICENSED FIREARMS
POLOKWANE: Seven suspects were nabbed during an intelligence driven operation that was executed at Dennilton policing area under Sekhukhune District on Wednesday 17 July 2024.
The members of the Groblersdal Crime Intelligence Unit received information about the suspects who were alleged to be responsible for carjackings while targeting courier motor vehicles at Dennilton and Siyabuswa policing area. The suspects were traveling from Pretoria, Gauteng province utilizing a white Toyota Fortuner and white VW Polo motor vehicle.
A joint operation for their apprehension was conducted along the R573 public road by the members of Groblersdal Crime Intelligence together with Siyabuswa police.
The motor vehicles were positively spotted driving next to Moutsiya Mall circle and were immediately stopped and searched. During the search, police found the suspects in possession of three unlicensed firearms and one signal jammer.
The suspects aged between 26 and 46 were subsequently apprehended on the spot for being in possession of unlicensed firearms and the two motor vehicles were also seized during the arrest. Further police investigations will be conducted to link the suspects with other criminal activities that were reportedly committed in Sekhukhune District.
The suspects are expected to appear before the Moutse Magistrate court soon.
