POLICE CONFISCATE STOLEN VEHICLES, PROPERTY AND ARREST A 41-YEAR-OLD MALE SUSPECT LINKED WITH CASES INCLUDING ROBBERIES

POLOKWANE: Members of Limpopo Provincial Organised Crime Investigation Unit together with Capricorn Flying Squad, Burgersfort Crime Intelligence, Online Intelligence, and private security arrested a 41-year-old male suspect for cases of business robbery, armed robbery, possession of unlicensed firearm, and ammunition, and possession of suspected stolen properties.

On Thursday, 18 July 2024, the Police conducted an operation in Pretoria , Mamelodi Nellmapius . The team followed information regarding the suspects terrorizing the Limpopo community with ATM and Drop Safe bombings.

Subsequent to the operation, the male suspect aged 41 was arrested for a business robbery incident that occurred in February 2023 at one of the supermarkets at Bopedi Complex in the Apel policing area Sekhukhune District. During the arrest, the suspect was found in possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition, jewelleries, a large amount of coin money and a suspected stolen vehicle, which was reported stolen at Jeppe policing area, in Gauteng Province during June 2023. The vehicle was also linked with an armed robbery case reported in Polokwane, Capricorn District during May 2024.

Police in Silverton opened a case docket of possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition, possession of suspected stolen property, and possession of stolen vehicle.

The Provincial Commissioner of police in Limpopo Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has welcomed the arrest and lauded the investigating team for the remarkable breakthrough that resulted in the recovery and confiscations of several items.

The suspect will appear before the District Court in Pretoria Central and the Magistrate’s Court in Sekhukhune.

Police investigations are continuing.
