POLICE ARREST TWO SUSPECTS FOR POSSESSION AND DEALING IN DRUGS AT MOKOPANE

POLOKWANE: Two foreign nationals aged 34 and 42 were arrested separately for possession and dealing in drugs. This is after positive information was received by the Police, regarding the suspects transporting illicit drugs in the Mokopane policing area.

Members of SAPS Provincial Organised Crime accurately followed the leads.

On Wednesday, 03 July 2024, suspect aged 34 was spotted driving in a described motor vehicle, a white VW Polo that was about to deliver illicit drugs at an identified location along Dudu Madisha Street in Mokopane. Police tactically approached the said motor vehicle with the driver. He was alone, they searched the motor vehicle, and he was found in possession of transparent plastic packages containing kat, crystal, and heroine at an estimated street value of R25 000-00 (twenty-five thousand rand).

In another similar incident, the members arrested a 42-year-old suspect for possession and dealing in drugs at Minkies Street on Thursday, 04 July 2024, at Mokopane policing area. The suspect was also about to deliver illicit drugs around the area.

His white VW Polo was strategically approached, and he was found with transparent plastics containing suspected illicit drugs (crystal meth) at an estimated street value of R40 000-00 (forty thousand rands).

The Provincial Commissioner of Limpopo Police Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has welcomed the arrests and praised the police for working tirelessly in removing the drugs within our communities.

The suspect aged 32 had already appeared before
the Mokopane Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, 04 July 2024. His was remanded in custody until 11 July 2024 for formal bail application.

The other suspect aged 42 will appear before the same court on Friday, 05 July 2024.

The Police investigations are still continuing.
