ELANDSKRAAL POLICE ARREST A 33-YEAR-OLD SUSPECT FOR POSSESSION OF FIREARM
POLOKWANE: The Police in Elandskraal have arrested a 33-year-old man for possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition on Thursday, 13 June 2024, at around 23h00
According to information Police were summoned to the scene, whereby two groups of family members were involved in a heated argument at Tsantsabela village.
Upon arrival Police approached them and led them to police station for further interrogation. While at the police station, Police searched all the occupants driving in two vehicles (charcoal Ford Ranger-double cab and white H1 Hundai-Minibus). During the search, one of them was found in possession of an unlicensed firearm (rifle:AK47) and 27 live ammunition.
He was immediately arrested for possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
Circumstances that led to the two families to engage in a heated argument are still under investigation.
He will appear before Marble Hall Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, 18 June 2024.
The Provincial Commissioner of the Police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, has applauded the police for arresting the suspect and recovering the unlicensed firearm. “We praise the team for being vigilant when performing their duties and responding quickly to the situation,” said Lieutenant General Hadebe.
The Police investigations are still underway.
