A 35-YEAR-OLD BROTHER IN LAW NABBED, FOR ALLEGED RAPE OF A 15-YEAR-OLD GIRL AT MOKGOLOBOTO VILLAGE
POLOKWANE: A 35-year-old male suspect has been nabbed for allegedly raping a 15-year-old child on Tuesday 30 April 2024 at Mokgoloboto village, Tzaneen policing area, in the Mopani District, at about 14:00.
It is alleged that the victim was staying with her sister and her husband at their residence. On Tuesday 30 April 2024, while sitting in the house, her brother-in-law called her to his bedroom.
He forcefully undressed her in his bedroom, then undressed himself and raped her.
Afterwards, he informed her not to tell anyone.
He promised to assist her in applying for a birth certificate and an identity card. The victim informed her mother about the incident when he failed to assist her in applying for a birth certificate and identity card.
The incident was reported to the police on Friday 07 June 2024. She was taken to the nearest hospital for a medical examination as part of investigations.
The suspect (brother-in-law) was traced and arrested on Friday, 07 June 2024 at Mokgolobotho village.
The case was transferred to Tzaneen Family Violence, Child Protection, and Sexual Offences Unit for further investigation.
The suspect will appear before Nkowankowa Magistrate’s court on Monday, 10 June 2024, facing charges of rape.
Police investigations are continuing.
