PAKISTANI NATIONAL ARRESTED FOR FRAUD AND CORRUPTION
PRETORIA: A 34 years old will appear in court soon on charges of fraud, corruption and contravention of the Immigration Act following his arrest on 4 June 2024 at the Mamelodi Home Affairs office after handing over R6000 to an incorruptible official.
It is reported that on the 24 May 2024 during an operation at a market in Sinoville, the Department of Home Affairs (DHA) official was checking the documentation of the shops owners whilst other law enforcement agent were fulfilling their mandates. The suspect was asked to produce documentation for verification by DHA. The suspect produced a Pakistani passport and couldn’t produce the required visa. He was issued with a letter to avail himself and the permit at DHA Mamelodi on the 27 May 2024. The suspect then enticed the DHA official by arranging to bring R10 000 to receive back the passport, identity document of an alleged life partner and the permit.
On the 04 June 2024, unbeknownst to the suspect, the DHA official arranged with the members of Serious Corruption Investigation to effect arrest when the suspect delivered R6 000 enticement. As soon as the suspect handed over the money, he was immediately apprehended
