MUSINA POLICE INVESTIGATING CASE OF ATTEMPTED MURDER AFTER 5-YEAR-OLD STRUCK BY STRAY BULLET AT MATSWALE LOCATION

POLOKWANE: Musina Detectives are investigating a case of attempted murder following a tragic incident in which a 5-year-old boy was struck by a stray bullet at Matswale Location.

The incident occurred on Saturday, 01 June 2024 just after midnight when the bullet penetrated the roof of the family’s residence and struck the child.

According to preliminary investigations, the bullet is believed to have been fired from an unknown location. The child fell asleep while watching TV, and his elder brother discovered he was shot when he went to fetch him. He then woke up their grandmother, and the child was immediately rushed to the hospital where he is currently receiving medical treatment.

Meanwhile, police are investigating a separate case of house robbery that took place in the same area on Friday, 31 May at about 19:00.

According to reports, a 17-year-old boy returned home from playing with friends when three unknown women knocked on the door and demanded to see the owner of the rented house.

The teenager then texted the male owner who was not home at the time and informed him there were people looking for him. The women suddenly tried to open the burglary door, but it was locked. One of them made a call, and two unknown men arrived and forced open the burglary door. Once they entered the house, the male suspects pinned the teenager on the ground while the female suspects took a TV.

The suspects then left. The matter was reported to the police and a case of house robbery was opened.
