A 40-YEAR-OLD MAN ARRESTED FOR STABBING HIS ALLEGED GIRLFRIEND TO DEATH
POLOKWANE: The Police in Thohoyandou under Vhembe District have arrested a 40-year-old man after he stabbed his alleged girlfriend to death with an unknown sharp object on Saturday, 01 June 2024 at around 17h00 at the woman’s house in Bunzhe Village.
The Police were summoned to the scene and upon arrival, they found the victim lying in a pool of blood with multiple stab wounds inside her house. The members of Emergency Medical Services were activated, and the woman aged 30 was certified dead. Her identity is currently withheld for investigation purposes.
The Police have since opened a case of murder. The motive behind the incident is unknown at this stage while police investigations are ongoing.
The suspect was traced and arrested the same day.
The Provincial Commissioner of the Police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, has expressed concerns regarding the prevalent incidents of Gender based violence in the province. She urged community members to report all violence perpetrated against women and children to the police without fail.
“As the society, we need to work together to end an embedded culture of violence. Violence against women and children should be discouraged at all costs. Men are supposed to protect women and children in their respective spaces ,” said Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe.
The suspect will appear before the Thohoyandou Magistrate’s Court on soon.
Police investigations are continuing.
