TWO SUSPECTS ARRESTED IN POSSESSION OF STOLEN ELECTRICAL CABLES WORTH THOUSANDS OF RANDS, DENIED BAIL

POLOKWANE: In a decisive operation to combat infrastructure crime that undermines the economy of our country, Police in Tomburk outside Lephalale successfully apprehended two male suspects found in unlawful possession of electrical cables.

The operation, conducted on Sunday, 24 March 2024, acted on precise information about theft in progress on a nearby farm.

Upon arrival at the scene, law enforcement officers caught the two suspects red-handed stealing the cables. They were arrested, and a substantial quantity of electrical cables to the estimated value of over R100 000 were recovered.

The two suspects, Joseph Mocheku(45) and Phineas Ngoepe(25), made their first court appearance in Phalala Magistrate’s Court and will apply for formal bail on 2 April 2024

The Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe commended the swift action that prevented a significant disruption of electricity supply and potential economic losses.

Police investigations continue.
