“It is alleged that Mavuso Msimang signed a billion rand deal with Gijima Technologies on New Year’s eve

“It is alleged that Mavuso Msimang signed a billion rand deal with Gijima Technologies on New Year’s eve in 2005/6 when he was DG of Home Affairs. (Who signs contracts on 31 December when the whole is in festive mood to usher a new year in!)

The Auditor General confirmed that the initial contract amount was R1.9bn which escalated quickly to R4.5bn, which was clearly a potential corrupt deal and Mavuso Msimang was paid 10% of R4.5b.The escalation was so quick that the concerned comrades who didn’t eat and the AG, queried it. Allegations also indicate that Gijima clearly didn’t have the capacity to deliver on this contract and this nearly ruined our World Cup hosting.

Frank Chikane who was then the DG in the Presidency had to renegotiate the contract down to R2.5bn and get SARS to bring their software capabilities to ensure management of movement of visitors for the 2010 World Cup.
Mavuso, Frank Chikane and Trevor Fowler were paid a handsome kickbacks by Gijima.
Mavuso was further embroiled in corruption allegations as the CEO of the SA National Parks and was asked to leave by Minister of Tourism then Marthinus van Schalkwyk.
Today he talks about corruption as if he’s the cleanest among us.

We need to guard against those that may pay our veterans handsomely to tarnish the image and good work of Fikile Mbalula and President Ramaphosa.”
