MALAMULELE POLICE ON THE MANHUNT AFTER ONE PERSON FATALLY SHOT AND ANOTHER WOUNDED DURING ALLEGED HOUSE ROBBERIES

POLOKWANE The Police in Malamulele have launched a manhunt for unknown armed suspects after a male victim was fatally shot and another injured during separate incidents in Mahonisi Village in the early hours of Satuday, 09 December 2024.

It is alleged that two armed suspects went on to rob two houses on 09 December 2023, between 01:00 and 02:00. It is reported that the suspects first broke into the house of a 50-year-old man who was staying alone and shot him. The victim’s body was discovered by his nephew who is staying nearby after he heard a gunshot. Upon, arrival he found the door broken and his uncle’s lifeless body in a pool of blood.

The second incident occurred at the nearby house where the suspects also broke into the house and found three brothers asleep and demanded money. They then robbed them off their cellphones and shoes before shooting the 22-year-old victim. The victim was taken to a medical care center for treatment.

Preliminary information further indicated that both victims were making and selling aluminum pots and boiling kettles and it is believed the suspects were after their money.

Police have opened cases of murder, attempted murder and house robbery.

The Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has expressed concerns regarding the proliferation of firearms in the province, operations have been intensified to recover such weapons and apprehend the suspects involved.
