POLICE SERGEANT NABBED FOR ATTEMPTED MURDER AT MAKWARELA VILLAGE DENIED BAIL AND NOW FACING A CHARGE OF MURDER
POLOKWANE: The 44-year-old Police Sergeant facing a charge of attempted murder after he allegedly shot his landlord on the evening of Monday, 20 November 2023 in Makwarela Township, Vhembe District is now facing a charge of murder after the victim succumbed to his injuries.
The suspect, Mphephu Nditsheni Lefty stationed at POPS Thohoyandou appeared before Thohoyandou Magistrate’s Court on 21 November 2023 and he was remanded in custody.The suspect will appear on 29 November facing a charge murder.
According to police reports, the victim found the suspect outside the rented residence playing loud music and instructed him to stop since it was disturbing pupils with their examination preparations.
Afterwards, the suspect didn’t take it well, and an argument ensued. The suspect fired shots at the victim and then fled the scene. The victim was taken to the nearest hospital with severe gunshot wounds on the upper body.
Police were notified about the incident and opened an attempted murder case, and IPID was notified.
The suspect was arrested on Tuesday 21 November 2023, in Vuwani village.
Police investigations are still continuing.
