A MALE SUSPECT AGED 29 NABBED FOR POSSESSION OF UNLICENSED FIREARM AND AMMUNITION
POLOKWANE: A 29-year-old suspect was nabbed by the members of Musina and Beitbridge task team for possession of unlicensed firearm during operation Kukula, on Wednesday, 01 November 2023 at Musina.
According to information, Police received a tip-off about suspects that are involved in robberies around the area. Leads were accurately followed, wherein, the suspect was found in possession of an unlicensed firearm, one magazine and 04 rounds of ammunition at Musina phase 13, Mushongoville. The suspect was arrested on the spot.
The suspect will be linked with other cases of robberies around the area and more arrests are expected.
The Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe commended the teams for arresting the suspects. “The police must do everything in their power to recover firearms in the hands of criminals since they are used mostly in commission of serious and violent crimes. This will ensure that we realise a safe and secure province,”said Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe.
The suspect will appear before Musina Magistrate’s Court soon.
