POLICE APPREHEND FOUR ILLEGAL MINERS AND CONFISCATE EQUIPMENT INCLUDING 08 GENERATORS
POLOKWANE: Members of SAPS Sekhukhune District Task Team arrested four suspects aged between 25 and 43 for illegal mining during disruptive operation at Atok under Apel Policing area, on Friday, 18 August 2025 at around 12h00.
It is alleged that , Police arrived at the old mining shaft at Atok and found a group of people illegally mining. While the Police were approaching the suspects, dispersed to different directions.
Four suspects were as a result arrested for illegal mining. The Police confiscated 08 generators, 11 jackhammers and 01 water pump.
The Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe commended the team for their dedication and dealing with illegal mining as it is still a challenge in our Province.
The suspects will soon appear before Sekhukhune Magistrate’s Court.
The Police investigations are still continuing.
