OFF-DUTY POLICE SERGEANT APPREHENDS THE ALLEGED LIVE STOCK THIEF AT MAMPHOKGO VILLAGE

POLOKWANE: A 21-year-old suspect was arrested for possession of suspected stolen properties, on Friday 11 August 2023 by an off-duty Rakgoadi SAPS Acting Visible Commander.

According to information, the Sergeant was on his way home from work at around 17h00 when he spotted a suspicious White Corsa Utility bakkie with canopy. He immediately, stopped the vehicle with the driver and one passenger.

He searched the vehicle and found 16 goats and 06 sheep, some with tampered branding, the driver claimed to be going to sell the live stock at Delmas auction but failed to produce necessary documents. The passenger then jumped out of the vehicle and fled into bushes. The suspect aged 21 was nabbed for possession of suspected stolen properties(live stock).

The Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has welcomed the arrest and praised the cop for the bravery as live stock cases are a challenge across the Province.

The arrested suspect will appear before Motetema Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 14 August 2023.

The Police investigations are still continuing.
